Unfortunately it’s still true that PT is the go to daw for post and found in all studios.Īt work for audio editing on a 2013 Mac Pro with PT HD for mixing and mastering I might get like 1-2 errors a day - e.g. If I didn’t do post I’d switch daws and still might if it stays like this. My instruments ssd is still formatted journaled so will try apfs soon. Multi tool for the win.įor music even with my new Mac Studio M1 32gb, I’ve had a lot of freezing with PT Studio, more then my 2018 Mac mini with PT 2018 so that’s concerning. I’m talking several hours of multiple languages or films - it’s just the fastest workflow. But as a PT engineer you learn workarounds, and get used to it.įor audio editing I couldn’t live without it. There’s always freezing, bugs, crashes etc. You guys are an incredible source of knowledge!ġ6 years in post production with Pro Tools. We might go one by one on this one.Īny help or guidance is greatly appreciatedĮDIT: thanks for all the info r/protools. Especially not with 4 systems operational. Would not like to repeat that kind of stuff this time around. Is it to soon?ĭid all your plugins open smoothly? Any hiccups with opening (big) sessions that are coming from older (non-apple silicon) systems?ĭid plugin preferences or snapshots of reverbs survive the transition to a new system?Īnyone have a qnap in their studio as a server? Where there any hiccups on that front?įor example: 10 years ago our transition to a big qnap f***ed us since pro tools 9 could not work on an audio drive that was larger than 2 terrabytes… crashes galore untill a tech came to explain us we had to make an audio partition of 2tb as a work disk for audio. We should be good to go.īut at this time I am still in doubt to jump on the apple silicon bandwagon. I checked out all the protools-experts articles about the case, combed thru the avid compatibility charts, checked the duc, checked for plugin compatibility and what not. Looking for hands on and in dept experiences.
